Teaching
The teaching emphasis at ESR provides specific opportunities for developing gifts in teaching, but remains flexible enough to accommodate a variety of teaching interests for those students with a call to educational ministry. In addition to the core curriculum, Comprehensive Seminar, and electives of their own choosing, students do their Supervised Ministry in settings that develop gifts in the area of teaching. This emphasis may be developed in one of two ways. Each requires a concentration of twelve semester hours.
Concentration in a Field
This will include four courses beyond the core requirements in any one academic field not having a separate ministry emphasis. The choice of fields is Church History, Hebrew Scriptures, New Testament, and Theology.
Individualized Concentration for a Particular Ministry.
This will include four courses that are beyond the core requirements and that together provide foundation for a particular, namable ministry by the student. This concentration will generally include courses from a variety of subject areas, but must have a focus and cohesion that clearly unifies them in subject matter and skill training for the chosen direction of ministry.
