Irene McHenry
February 21-26, 2013
Irene McHenry will join us February 21-26, 2013 as our spring 2013 Friend in Residence.
McHenry is the Executive Director of Friends Council on Education, board president of Council for American Private Education, a Haverford College Trustee and member of Chestnut Hills Friends Meeting. She has founded two Quaker schools and leads the Institute for Engaging Leadership in Friends Schools.

Friday, February 22nd
Workshop: The Three G's of Leadership
12:00 - 3:00 pm
ESR Center
This experiential workshop will explore a simple conceptual framework - the 3 Gs of Leadership: Gratitude, Generosity, and Grace. Using poetry from the book Leading From Within: Poetry that Sustains the Courage To Lead to support our reflections on leadership, these queries will be addressed: How do we discern, develop, and take action? How do we discover leadership and support emerging leaders as we respond to the challenges and opportunities we face? How do we provide spiritual leadership in our world for peace, justice and an earth restored?

Saturday, February 23rd
A Two-Hour Silent Retreat:
Mindfulness Meditation, Centering Prayer, and Worship
10:00 am - noon
ESR Center
Irene will guide a mindfulness practices including sitting, walking, and gentle movement, as well as centering prayer and compassion practice. Join us to explore the transformative possibilities in each moment of our lives.

Common Meal
11:20 am - 1:00 pm
Irene will present on the topic "Peace in Oneself; Peace in the World"
Lunch will begin at 11:20 with program following at 1:00

(Program is free, but there is a $7 fee for lunch, which can be paid at the door)
