Care-Full Preaching

The preacher who is not a pastor grows remote;
the pastor who is not a preacher grows petty.

—Phillips Brooks

As long as pastors do their work in a congregational context, there will be a need for pastoral preaching. Yet too many preachers neglect this vital opportunity for pastoral caregiving. This year’s conference will focus on pastoral preaching. Speaker G. Lee Ramsey will guide us in discovering three vital aspects of this topic:

• The Face of the Preacher: the person of the preacher and the role of personal experience in pastoral preaching.

• Facing the Congregation: the pastoral community in which we preach.

• Word Facing World: the relationship between pastoral preaching and the concerns of the wider world—where pastoral and prophetic preaching meet.
