Clamor, Cadence, Silence, Song:
LISTENING TO THE SPIRITUAL HEART OF MUSIC
It was William Wordsworth who wrote,
“The music in my heart I bore long after it was heard no more.”
Intuitively we know the truth of these words since music lingers in curious
ways within our hearts for days and even years, and there are times when a
beloved song rises on its own in our souls. At this year’s Spirituality
Gathering, we will explore the fascinating ways that music speaks the language
of the Spirit, including the spiritual practice of composing and performing,
music as an agent of healing and connection, as well as the many ways that
music enriches worship and prayer.
Even if you don’t claim to have a musical talent or sing in a choir,
this year’s gathering offers an opportunity to explore the many ways
that music speaks to all of us.
The daylong event includes worship, keynote presentations, small-group workshops,
lunch, and time to browse through our displays and “bookstore.” For
four years, persons interested in the field of spirituality have gathered at
ESR to share their wisdom, explore new topics, network and experience spiritual
renewal. Join us March 5, 2005, to experience another day of refreshment— a
festival of praise for the body, mind, and spirit!
