ESR to Host 2012 Pastors Conference
Earlham School of Religion will host their annual Pastors Conference on Monday, October 1, 2012 in the ESR Center. Keynote speaker Debora Jackson will deliver three plenary sessions on the topic The 7 R's of Sanctuary. Rev. Jackson, Senior Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Needham, PA, is also an independent consultant with Executive Soul and published author. Her three plenary talks will cover the topics Realizing Leadership Efficacy, A Leader's Need for Time Apart, and The Criticality of Spirituality.
Rev. Jackson is a powerful preacher, well known for stirring and energizing congregations. As a consultant, she helps churches and non-profit organization with strategic planning initiatives and provides leadership development programs. She has written chapters appearing in the books Good Business: Putting Spiritual Principles into Practice at Work and The Soul of Supervision: Integrating Practice and Theory. Her plenary sessions will explore leadership efficacy, the idea of stepping away from one's leadership context, and how spiritual disciplines can help us to deepen our spirituality.
In addition to the plenary sessions, attendees will also choose one workshop from the topics Pastoral Leadership and Congregational Size and Pastoral Leadership Among Friends. Cost to attend is $40 per person and includes breakfast and lunch. Students may attend at a reduced rate of $25.
