ESR Announces Appointment of Carole Spencer
ESR has completed the search for a professor of Christian Spirituality, and is excited to welcome Carole Spencer to the ESR faculty. She will join ESR at the rank of Associate Professor and begins her position in July with responsibilities on campus beginning in August.

For the past seven years, Carole has been Adjunct Professor of Church History and Spiritual Formation as well as Director of Friends Center at George Fox Evangelical Seminary in Portland, OR. She earned an MA in Christian History and Thought from Western Evangelical Seminary, and a Ph.D. in Theology at the University of Birmingham, UK in 2004. Her dissertation was published as Holiness: The Soul of Quakerism: An Historical Analysis of the Theology of Holiness in the Quaker Tradition, Paternoster Press, 2007. Carole's expertise and research interests include Christian mysticism, Quaker history and theology, women’s hi story, theology of holiness, and spiritual formation.
Carole is a Recorded Minister in Northwest Yearly Meeting of Friends and has traveled widely among Friends speaking at conferences and other gatherings. We ask that you join us in welcoming her to Earlham School of Religion.
